You Have Heard the Gospel

You have heard the Gospel with pleasure. "Heard it!" You say, "I heard it when a little child." Your mother brought you to the house of God in her arms. You have heard it and still hear it, though it is rather like an old song to you: but is this to be all? I am very grateful that you do hear the Gospel, for I hope that one of these days God may cause it to grow in you and yield fruit. But still a grave responsibility is upon you. Think how favored you have been! How will you answer for this privilege if it is neglected and rendered useless by that neglect? Dear hearers, if we lived in the heart of Africa and we died without believing in a Christ of whom we had not heard, we could not be blamed for that. But here we are in the heart of London where the Gospel is preached in all our streets, and our blood will be on our own heads if we perish. Do you mean to go down to hell? Are you so desperate that you will go there wearing the garb of Christians? If you do persist ruining your souls, my eyes shall follow you with tears; and when I cannot warn you any longer, I will weep in secret places because of your perversity.
  ~ Charles Spurgeon

Health Care Reform

Now that the Senate has passed their version of the bill, (different then the one that was handed to them) those of us that still can't afford or don't want to spend the money on health care; jail would be the just punishment.

How's that 'Hope and Change' working for you?

An American, and Englishman and a Russian all die and go to hell. While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for. The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth. The Russian asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he was finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so he writes him a check.

Next the Englishman calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When they are finished the devil informs them that cost is 6 million dollars, so he writes him a check. Finally the American gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he was finished the devil informed him that there would be no charge for the call and feel free to call the US anytime.

When the Russian hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why the American got to call the US free. The devil replied, "Since Obama became president of the US , the
country has gone to hell, so naturally it's a local call."

A History Lesson

Gubbmint and How Gubbmint Works

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job.

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without
instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two
people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do
time studies.

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the
tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and
hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports..

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So They
created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer,
Then hired two people.

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?"
So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an
Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal
Secretary.

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one
Year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost."

So they laid off the night watchman.

NOW slowly, let it sink in.

Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter.

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of
the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY.... during the Carter Administration?

Anybody?

Anything?

No?

Didn't think so!

Bottom line. We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of
an agency...the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember!

Ready??

It was very simple...and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate.

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977.
TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

Hey, pretty efficient, huh???

AND NOW IT'S 2009 -- 32 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?"

Ah, yes -- good ole bureaucracy.

AND, NOW, WE ARE GOING TO TURN THE BANKING SYSTEM, HEALTH CARE, AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY OVER TO THE SAME GOVERNMENT?

McFly, Anybody Home?

Marriage

This is how I see marriage as far as scripture is concerned and why I think there are so many divorces.

21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Interesting thing in the NIV v 24 says 'joined' the KJV has 'cleave'. Cleave can mean to tear or pierce. Interesting because, that tearing (in my mind) is a blood covenant between man and wife to remain faithful to each other for life.

Now the rib protects the vital organs of the body, heart and lungs. The wife needs to be more than a worker side-by-side with her husband, she needs to protect her husband. His emotions, heart, protect against outside influences that would harm the family, and so on... He needs to protect his rib by covering up like a boxer or football player. We don't want the rib broken!! He needs to make sure that she feels protected, consistent income to provide for the family, not leering at other women, answering questions without making her feel like you’re hiding something. She needs to believe that she comes before football, golf, the boys, etc.

They are naked before each other really is how we're suppose to be. Totally transparent with each other.

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.

I know that the context of this is used with pastors being in charge of their own church, but what if husbands use these verses for taking care of their OWN families?? The word ‘life’ in v. 11 means all emotion, intellect, entire character, knowledge, everything thing that is in the husband, he to put into his family. When he does not, he is just like the hireling, selfish and not caring for his family. Football or golf is more important.

I think that if both men and women would put the needs/desires of their own spose before their own needs than there would be less divorces. We end up not trusting each other, because we don't take the time to think or take care of each other as was the custom when we were dating.

Obama is cherry-picking scripture showing his ignorance... especially when he says that America was never a Christian nation... the historical facts prove otherwise... on a Federal Level there was never to be or intended for a totalitarian state to exist; each state has that right to dictate what they will do

1789-1795 - John Jay, first chief justice of the United States: "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."

Lincoln on the Bible:
"In regard to this Great Book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it, we would not know right from wrong. All things most desireable for man's welfare, here and hereafter, are to be found portrayed in it."

Former President Harry Truman told an Attorney General's Conference in 1950, "The fundamental basis of this nation's laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and Saint Matthew, from Isaiah and Saint Paul. I don't think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don't have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the State."

I quoted Truman because he was a Liberal then, and many presidents before and after said similar things... fact.

I realize that I maybe going to far on this, but Thomas Jefferson did have a Koran, which Pres. Obama and Rep Keith Ellingson (MN) have brought up, but not because he thought it was a good religion... NO, he believed that Islam was a great enemy and wanted to attack them... history is getting turned on it's backside today.
Let's not forget the Mayflower Compact and numerous other articles written by our forefathers proclaiming this to be a Christian nation. Facts are facts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pres Obama is WILLFULLY WRONG and he doesn't care... I believe that, but he is still president of the United States and deserves our prayers.

Republicans and Democrats

The Democrat Party has become the Lawyers' Party. Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton are lawyers. Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama are lawyers. John Edwards, the other former Democrat candidate for president, is a lawyer, and so is his wife, Elizabeth. Every Democrat nominee since 1984 went to law school (although Gore did not graduate). Every Democrat vice presidential nominee since 1976, except for Lloyd Bentsen, went to law school. Look at the Democrat Party in Congress: the Majority Leader in each house is a lawyer.

The Republican Party is different. President Bush and Vice President Cheney were not lawyers, but businessmen. The leaders of the Republican Revolution were not lawyers. Newt Gingrich was a history professor; Tom Delay was an exterminator; and, Dick Armey was an economist. House Minority Leader Boehner was a plastic manufacturer, not a lawyer. The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is a heart surgeon. Who was the last Republican president who was a lawyer?

The Republican Party is made up of real people doing real work.

The Democrat Party is made up of lawyers.

Democrats mock and scorn men who create wealth, like Bush and Cheney, or who heal the sick, like Frist, or who immerse themselves in history, like Gingrich.

The Lawyers' Party sees these sorts of people, who provide goods and services that people want, as the enemies of America . And, so we have seen the procession of official enemies, in the eyes of the Lawyers' Party, grow.

Against whom do Hillary and Obama rail? Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, hospitals, manufacturers, fast food restaurant chains, large retail businesses, bankers, and anyone producing anything of value in our nation.

This is the natural consequence of viewing everything through the eyes of lawyers. Lawyers try to solve problems by successfully representing their clients, in this case the American people. Lawyers seek to have new laws passed, they seek to win lawsuits, they press appellate courts to overturn precedent, and lawyers always parse language to favor their side. Confined to the narrow practice of law, that is fine. But it is an awful way to govern a great nation. When politicians as lawyers begin to view some Americans as clients and other Americans as opposing parties, then the role of the legal system in our life becomes all-consuming. S ome Americans become 'adverse parties' of our very government. We are not all litigants in some vast social class-action suit. We are citizens of a republic that promises us a great deal of freedom from laws, from courts, and from lawyers.

Today, we are drowning in laws; we are contorted by judicial decisions; we are driven to distraction by omnipresent lawyers in all parts of our once private lives. America has a place for laws and lawyers, but that place is modest and reasonable, not vast and unchecked. When the most important decision for our next president is whom he will appoint to the Supreme Court, the role of lawyers and the law in America is too big. When lawyers use criminal prosecution as a continuation of politics by other means, as happened in the lynching of Scooter Libby and Tom Delay, then the power of lawyers in America is too great. When House Democrats sue America in order to hamstring our efforts to learn what our enemies are planning to do to us, then the role of litigation in America has become crushing.

Can we expect the Lawyers' Party to provide real change, real reform, or real hope in America?

Most Americans know that a republic in which every major government action must be blessed by nine unelected judges is not what Washington intended in 1789. Most Americans grasp that we cannot fight a war when ACLU or CAIR lawsuits snap at the heels of our defenders. Most Americans intuit that more lawyers and judges will not restore declining moral values or spark the spirit of enterprise in our economy.

Perhaps Americans will understand that change cannot be brought to our nation by those lawyers who already largely dictate American society and business. Perhaps Americans will see that hope does not come from the mouths of lawyers but from personal dreams nourished by hard work. Perhaps Americans will embrace the truth that more lawyers with more power will only make more problems even worse.

Differences between Conservitives and Liberals

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.

If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he feels that no one should have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat..

If a liberal is, he wants to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.

A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homo-seksual, he quietly leads his life.

If a liberal is homo-seksual, he loudly demands legislated respect.

If a bl ack man or His panic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.

Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.

Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.

A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God or religion silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.

A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

I was at a restaurant today; a place where everyone knows your name or in the very least whether or not if you're a Christian. Very friendly people that enjoy sitting and talking with each other... most are of retirement age which makes me (age 40) the baby of the group. They had talked about when growing up in the 1950's who things at that time was more free. Kids could drive the tractor to school, carry the shot gun in the window to hunt afterwards, drive the feed truck (age 14) so that a stop could be made to pick up feed from the local elevator on the way home.

You could work overtime and not feel guilty, because you made a little extra money that week. Whatever you did no one was going to help; certainly the government wasn't going to; it wasn't their job! You worked hard for what you had and nobody could take it away, even the government.

All that was required was an honest days work for an honest days wages. Where has that mentality gone? Today we want the government to step in and make sure of equality between races, between sex's, between, rich and poor, between countries... what happened to letting someone that "made their OWN bed and lie in it"? "Someone has to be made responsible for this", or "The Devil made me do that, so it's not my fault."

There is no personal responsibility! Why?

The reason: We want to be taken care of by some body other than ourselves and in exchange we're handing away our freedoms. And President Barack Hussein Obama's blueish-purple lips smile as he willingly to take that freedom away for government control.

Katrina and Isreal's Withdrawal from Gaza

Close to 10,000 Jews were expelled from their homes in the Gaza Strip and parts of northern Samaria. Katrina's death toll is now expected to reach at least 10,000.
America's population ratio to Israel is about 50:1. Ten thousand Jews who lost their Gaza homes is the equivalent of about 500,000 Americans who are now reported to be displaced as result of Katrina.

Gaza's Jewish communities were located in Israel's southern coastal region; America's southern coastal region now lies in ruins.

The U.S. government called on Louisiana residents to evacuate their homes ahead of the storm. The Israeli government, backed by statements from U.S. officials, demanded Gaza residents evacuate their homes.

Katrina, written in Hebrew, has a numerical equivalent of 374, according to a biblical numbering system upheld by all traditional Jewish authorities. Two relevant passages in the Torah share the exact numerical equivalent: "They have done you evil" (Gen. 50:17) and "The sea upon land" (Exodus 14:15).

Bush, from Texas, and Rice, from Alabama, were the most vocal U.S. backers of the Gaza evacuation. Hurricane Katrina hit the states in between Texas and Alabama – Louisiana and Mississippi.

Similarity in scenes: Many residents of Jewish Gaza climbed to their rooftops to escape the threat of expulsion, while residents of the Gulf Coast climbed on their own rooftops to protect themselves from the rising waters. Jewish Gaza homes described as beautiful and charming were demolished this week by Israel's military. Once beautiful homes in New Orleans now lie in ruins.

The day Katrina hit, Israel began carrying out what was termed the most controversial aspect of the Gaza withdrawal – the uprooting of bodies from the area's Jewish cemetery. There have been media reports of corpses floating around in flooded New Orleans regions.

Citizens of Israel were barred from entering Gush Katif; people were only allowed to leave Jewish Gaza. As Katrina was making landfall U.S. authorities barred citizens from entering the affected areas. People were only allowed out.

Cats and Dogs

Men are like dogs; they are easy to get along with, they want to be friends with everybody, they are loyal - almost to a fault at times.

Women are like cats; they are picky, they let you know when they're upset, they only want attention when "they" want attention, they have a ''what have you done for me lately'' attitude.

The old sayings applies here...

... diamonds are a girls bestfriend...

... dog is man's bestfriend...

hhhmmmm... I wonder who's more relational...?

As I sit here typing away,
Thinking of poetry today,
Wondering, who else has this longing?

All day, throughout the night,
I try with all of my might,
To master this complex wonder!

Only myself, I have chided,
In my soul I have decided,
Poetry confuses and boggles the senses!

With no resolution on the horizon,
I shall run with the bison,
In the opposite direction!

Time to Eat Out

It was a hot 95 degree day; actually it had been for the past 10 days. Working construction, while having its good points of being outside can be physically trying at times. I had just staggered in the front door to my castle from another 12 hour day in the scorching sun, when my bride of 10 years greeted me with, "I'm hot," (which she is) "I'm tired, I'm not cooking supper, and we're going out for dinner!"

Now, I should say that on that particular day she had been legitimately busy, kids going here and there, things with the bank, and tasks associated with being a mom and wife. I would like to add that a general “hello” would have been a dandy ice-breaker, but instead she decided to go for the “I’m tired” card and play it for everything its worth. A pesky detail… we had NO air conditioning; she and the kids were stuck there all day, but that wasn’t really my problem....

The sun had beat me like a rented mule for the past 10 days and I still had a few more months of blood blistering beating to go from the great orb in the sky. Meeting my bride, at the top of the stairs, who had her hands curled up into fists resting sternly on her somkin' hips wondering if I had the courage to deny her what she was "requesting".

To the right I could see into the master suite where I do my… relaxing… and to my amazement the bed had not been properly made, and yet she she was asking to retire for the evening at some cooled restaurant? *cough* whatever...

“You didn’t even make the bed today!” I exclaimed my displeasure.

“I didn’t have time,” she protested (weakly I might add), “I had to go the bank, one child had t-ball, this one had piano, and the 3rd fruit of my loins has been puking all day.” (blah-blah- blah-blah…) “I just didn’t have time! So we're going out to eat!” she proclaimed directly to me as challenging my authority.

“Well, June Cleaver would have had time! She would have worn pearls, high heels, AND had a smile for her husband,” I felt obligated to point out the obvious.

I won’t go into the ugly details that followed, but I took a cool shower and had an even colder conversation at the restaurant on a hot summer evening seemed to be the just ticket to for a few ice cubes...I guess, I didn't quit get it....

Live by Faith

LIVE BY FAITH

The scripture says,
Keep God’s Word tied to our hearts,
Remembering God is near.
Then darkness, decorates its arms around me;
Understanding makes no speech,
Discernment gives no direction,
Wisdom grins and laughs at me.
Where in the wilderness am I?
Desert sands blow, rivers flood,
The coldness of solitude smiles and winks.
'Pray and seek God!' Scripture says,
'For His wisdom and understanding'.
Do what you know is right
Even then in the darkness,
I won’t be playing the fool?
What a fine line,
Playing the fool and faith.
